FAQs

Sports Massage

This depends on the level of discomfort. A massage once a week for the first 4 weeks is a better option. It allows time for the area to heal and recover and give you an idea of how you have responded to the treatment. After that gradually increase the time between sessions as symptoms improve.

Yes – Unlike other massage techniques that focus on relaxation, deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness. It still helps you to unwind mentally, too.

Anyone and everyone. These are suitable for both a non-athlete and an athlete. Benefits for non-athletes include stress relief and release from muscle discomforts, sore necks and aching back pain. Athletes benefit from relief from muscle soreness and increased flexibility.

I would treat a client of 16 years of age, as long as they had their parents’ permission. It really depends upon the type of massage required and the reason for it. It also depends on whether the child has mobility issues and would benefit from a massage. In this case, it would not necessarily be a deep tissue massage. Parents often do a gentle massage on very young babies to soothe and relax them, but a deep tissue massage could be harmful.

No there is no age limit. The older we become the more we may benefit from massage, as it helps to keep muscles relaxed and loose.

No. Sports massage is for anyone who is struggling with any type of muscle discomfort. It would benefit desk job workers who struggle with neck, shoulder and back pain.

Personal Training

The benefits of a personal trainer far outweigh the benefits of trying to do the exercise on your own. I can assure you that your fitness levels will determine the level at which we begin your training. Regardless of your age, current level of fitness and your desired goal I will devise a training program to suit YOU and YOUR goals. If you struggle with motivation, then a personal trainer is the way to go.

I can travel to your home, your workplace or we can use an open area in a local park.

Services are geared for all ages and all levels of fitness. Services also include nutritional and health advice.

Open to anyone and everyone.

A pre–Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) will need to be filled in prior to anyone wanting to participate in exercise. This is completed to offer a better overall insight into your health.

Depending on fitness levels, a typical session may includes:

Roughly 5 to 10 minute warm up.

Approximately 40 to 45 minutes of targeted training which includes a number of different training stations and built-in short rest periods.

Roughly 10 minute cool down session that includes thorough stretching to reduce stiffness/muscle fatigue.

No programme that you follow from week to week will be the same. A specific tailor-made programme allows your body to be constantly thinking and never plateau, thus improving chances of weight loss and fitness.

You will discover tips and tools to keep the pounds off including information on different diets and weight control and weight loss tips.

Whether your goal is losing weight, toning up or increasing your stamina- following a healthy diet as well as a fitness programme will give you better results.

I want you to have great overall health. If you have a known illness or have any symptoms that concern you, please discuss these conditions with me and together we can find suitable solutions that will keep you comfortable throughout your workout programme.

Vitamins and Minerals are important for optimal health and fitness – whether in the foods you eat or in a supplement. If you are eating the correct foods in the correct proportions, then you would not need to take supplements. However, some diets require the additional use of supplements, and this would be discussed with you.
